Guinness World Records 2012 – in pictures from The Guardian

Some of the entrants in this year’s chronicle of the fastest, the tallest, the hairiest and the downright weirdest.

I’m not sure of the photographic value of these but these two images at least caught my eye, if you want more go to the Guardian web site here

Chanel Tapper from California, USA, is revealed to have the longest tongue, measuring 3.8 inches (9.75 cm) from tip to top lip, Photograph: Ryan Schude/Guinness World Records
This reminds me of an exhibition we had at the original Photographers Workshop in St Mary’s Road, Oxford by Paddy Summerfield. He exhibited about 50 20 x 16 images just of tongues, stuck out just for his camera, fascinating and revolting in equal measure
The most dogs skipping on a rope is 13, achieved by Uchida Geinousha’s Super Wan Wan circus in Japan, Photograph: Shinsuke Kamioka/Guinness World Records
