How to photograph New Years Eve Fireworks

You will need a tripod or a very steady hand so save the drinking until after midnight….

Seriously photographing fireworks is not rocket science (sorry) but a few tips would certainly make it more likely you will get some decent results that go with a bang (sorry).

These tutorials are full of the information you need to get sparkling (sorry) images rather than have you doing cart(catherine) wheels (sorry) in despair as you miss the final blow out.

Photographing Fireworks

November 5th, Firework Night, yes I know that we see fireworks every month of the year for some celebration or other but Firework Night or sometimes Bonfire Night, there is a magic in the air, that and the baked potatoes, sausages, toffee apples and mugs of Bovril. Photographing fireworks requires techniques specific to the subject and although you can try to wing-it a bit of advice and preparation is a good idea to get the best results. Do you want to know how to photograph fireworks? with NYE just days away I thought I’d refresh this article in which I give 10 Fireworks Photography tips to help you get started. From Darren Rowse at Digital Photo School, the fireworks over Sydney Harbour are always spectacular on NYE but you may have more modest fireworks to celebrate with and photograph, these tips may help you to do better. DPS is based in Melbourne Australia, I should think Melbourne is a pretty glum place after the last Ashes match so they need some fireworks to cheer them up.
